The processor is actually AMD’s newer APU chipset series (2.2Ghz AMD’s Phenom II quad core N970) , combined with 4GB DDR3 of RAM is more than enough to power this unit on the most of programs and applications. However, it has 2x 2gb of RAM (1333 MHz)
Appearance wise, this Acer AS5552-7474 laptop has a very appealing mesh lid “black”. The design is really attractive, screen, keyboard are all black like the majority of most laptops, but the color is more deep and darker which gives this laptop a real class look which it is more costly than it truly is.
The 15.6 inch HD LCD screen with 1366 x 768 resolution enhances the screen experience with astoundingly sharp clarity, and crisp rich colors. I have yet to use any other laptop with this nice screen.
The graphics has a remarkable ATI Radeon HD 4250, produces smoothness as well as clarity whenever I stream videos from Hulu, Netflix and even from a DVD. (it includes DVD Super Multi optical drive).
With high definition audio support, you will have to hear the speakers yourself to believe it. It surprisingly has clear sound, without bass distortion even when I set to the max volume setting. Even though not the best audio laptop out there, but I don’t even need any headphones to watch a movies or to listen my music files.

Gaming experience, this mesh black Acer laptop will play basic games offline or online, it will runs well on it, but if you are expecting for playing WoW or other heavy games intensively, it won’t handle that demand.
The full sized standard keyboard with the dedicated number pad in the right side makes nicer to use. I didn’t need to get used to the cramped keyboard and go trying to find keys on this machine. The touchpad is really smooth to use, responsive, and supporting the multiple gesture technology. Overall, it is well made and very solid.
Nothing special with the included peripherals, this notebook comes with 1x HDMI port, 3x USB 2.0, 1x RJ45, 1.3MP built-in webcam. 1x Mic jack and 1x headphone jack.
Battery life seems to be quiet decent – I have not timed it, however it definitely appears to match the described specs. How long the battery certainly differs based on what applications you are working with and what they are doing.
My only negative point of this laptop is actually all the bloatware pre-installed on this unit.
I needed around half a day to eliminate them all (I also removed the preloaded Norton Antivirus 2011), and set up the laptop to my own preferences. It has been very smooth going since.

Overall, it’s absolutely a decent notebook with a decent hard drive, 4gigs of ram, and the only laptop with quad core processor in $300 price range. It’s more than suitable for me to do mediacore job like flash games, YouTube and Facebook.
I would suggest this Acer AS5552-7474 laptop.
