The A53U-XE1 comes with a dual core processor, so you should not be confused with the 1GHz.
This really means this machine does have a 2GHz processor.
This machine is obviously not a fastest computer, but way faster than my previous HP notebook I have used for 3 years.
I know there are a lot of sandy bridge powered laptops out there, but I would have to spend 3 or 4 times more to buy one.
This Asus notebook has loads of preinstalled bloatware or manufacturer’s softwares, but I managed to uninstall them, including the preloaded Antivirus, and installed my trusted antivirus software, and also Microsoft Office 2010, and it runs great.
Although I have not made a scientific battery life test, I think it is pretty good, because I could get about 4 hours with highest brightness setting, playing some videos while surfing the net via wifi, really using it in highest performance mode.
When I set to power saving mode, set the brightness to about 25%, I could get 5 until 6 hours (did not play any videos, only surfing the internet), the battery life is surprisingly great.
Performance wise, this 15.6 inch laptop got a 3.9 due to its processor performance, and it is decent for me, and I guess for most basic computer users, this is more than sufficient.
I have not found any issue while playing videos, this machine could play my videos on 720p as well as 1080p without problems.
YouTube videos in HD, Hulu, and Netflix videos run just fine either.
I have tested it in two browsers, which are Chrome, and Firefox, all gave the good results.
The speakers or sound quality is adequate, not strong, but I already expected it.
I bought a laptop, and not a stereo devices, the sound is fairly weak, but still acceptable, better than my older laptop.
This unit is not a gaming laptop, and I am not going to use it for any sort of gaming either, so if you expect a gaming machine, I am afraid you would be disappointed, however, I am really pleased with its screen and graphics quality.
As far as I’m concerned, I am having no issues with the heat at all, the fan works very quiet, and it runs silent even I run many applications at the same time.

But if you are not a demanding computer user like myself, I was searching a cheap and of course reliable laptop, and I found this machine, ASUS A53U-XE1 is definitely worth your money.
